Naturally, the appearance resulted in Glover shifting briefly into Childish Gambino mode to say a few words about leading Video of the Year contender 'This Is America,' directed by Hiro Murai. 'That was my main thing,' Glover said when Kimmel joked that the new Gambino video had toppled Keyboard Cat. 'I was trying to beat the Keyboard Cat.'

As for the wave of analysis and think pieces the video has inspired, Glover admitted he hasn't paid much attention. 'Some friends have sent, like, a couple, but to be real, I haven't been on the internet since Thursday night before the Saturday Night Live,' he said. 'Just because I was like I don't wanna be in all the… It's bad for me. I'm really sensitive, so I'm just, like, I'll just let it be.'

Asked if he avoids the reactions because 'one negative thing' might make him feel bad, Glover mostly agreed. 'More like, I see one negative thing and I track that person down,' he joked. 'It's like, I'll go onto their Instagram and be like 'You're not so great. Ultra highly compressed pc games download. That baby's not even that cute.' So, yeah.'
